FAQs

FAQs

How do I get Started?

You can set up a free 15-minute consult by scheduling here, or you can email me directly.

DO YOU OFFER BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SESSIONS?

Yes. I am licensed to provide services to clients anywhere in Washington state.

DO YOU BILL HEALTH INSURANCE?

No. At this time, I am unable to bill health insurance providers. However, I am able to provide you with a “superbill” that you can submit to your health insurance provider for reimbursement.

WHAT IF WE SEE EACH OTHER OUTSIDE OF SESSION?

It is possible we may run into each other outside of session. Therefore, it is my policy to only respond to a greeting solicited by you. This is to protect your privacy. Of course, if you would like to say hello, I will be very happy to say, “hello” :)!

CAN YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

No. In Washington state, licensed mental health providers who are not medical doctors or nurse practitioners cannot prescribe medication. I can, however, provide referrals and am happy to discuss your experiences with, or feelings about, psychiatric medication in session together.

WHEN ARE SESSION PAYMENTS DUE?

Session payments are due in full at the time of service. You will receive a link to make the payment for your session via email, and a payment link will be available within your client portal. Cash or check payments are possible. Please discuss your payment plan with me during our initial consultation.

WHAT DAYS OF THE WEEK DO YOU OFFER SESSIONS?

I currently offer sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings. Other days are negotiable. Please schedule a consult to explore possibilities.

Are there things that you do not treat?

I am unable to treat eating disorders, addiction, or certain psychotic disorders at this time. If these issues come up in therapy, I will discuss referral options with you, and/or other resources available to support these aspects of your care.

Are there other services you do not provide?

I do not provide the following services: forensic assessments (sometimes requested for divorce or custody cases, Emotional Support Animal (ESA) paperwork, hormone replacement therapy paperwork, disability applications, or worker's compensation / liability claims), court-ordered treatment services, medication services, or case management.

If you are unsure whether I can provide the services you need, please don't hesitate to contact me.

IF WE KNOW EACH OTHER FROM OTHER WALKS OF LIFE, WILL I BE ABLE TO WORK WITH YOU?

If we happen to work together, or have another significant relationship outside the therapeutic setting, I will not be able to be your therapist. This is called a “dual relationship,” which occurs when a therapist has a second relationship with a client. Boundaries in therapy create trust and facilitate growth. I am happy to refer you to another therapist. In the same spirit, we cannot be friends in real life ;), or on social media, due to the importance of maintaining your confidentiality, respecting your privacy and the important boundaries of our relationship.

Are Our conversations confidential?

Yes! Confidentiality is extremely important to the therapeutic process and is something I take very seriously. Most people come to therapy with extremely sensitive things that are often not discussed outside of session.

Everything in mental health counseling is private, with some exceptions having to do with safety and/or legal requirements. We will discuss these exceptions at intake, and throughout our work together.
